A SYNODICALLY ENDORSED EVENT*
June 10-20
Once again, I would like to invite you to join me and Pastor Khalilia for a very meaningful pilgrimage to the Holy Land this coming June. The situation since we last planned – and then had to cancel – this trip has changed dramatically. On the one hand, the conflict has greatly settled down, and, as of this writing, a tentative cease-fire is in place. On the other hand, the effect of this prolonged conflict has been devastating to the indigenous Palestinian Christian community, which is quickly disappearing. A trip of this kind seeks not only to engage with the holy sites where Jesus walked but with the people, often referred to as “the living stones of the Holy Land.” Such an opportunity may not present itself again. I hope you will prayerfully consider joining me and Pastor Khalilia on this pilgrimage to inspire your faith and increase your awareness of and solidarity with our siblings. More information will be forthcoming about financial aid/scholarships for this pilgrimage for those who qualify. For now, I encourage you to save the dates and complete the application. Thank you.

*A synodically-endorsed event—rather than a synod event—is an event endorsed by the Office of the Bishop that holds general interest for synod members and may be promoted through MNYS communication channels at the discretion of the Office of the Bishop staff. However, it is important to note that MNYS does not bear any planning responsibilities or financial commitments for such events.
